Mail Receiving Services - Whether you are operating a home-based
business or are a snow-bird living outside of Edmonton for periods of time,
your mail is received and held for you in your private mailbox. We can sign
for registered mail on your behalf and place it in your mailbox for you,
or have it carded for later pickup as you desire. As registered mail may
indicate receipt of legal documents, this is an optional service and we
can give you a phone call to confirm acceptance of the registered mail on
your behalf.
Parcel Receiving Services - Envelopes and parcels from almost
any courier can be received for you and will be placed in your mailbox if
they will fit. Otherwise, you will be able to pick up your parcel any time
we are open. We can also accept hand deliveries on your behalf. You can
prepay for COD packages that are coming in so that they can be received
and waiting for you with no hassle.
We Call You or You Call Us - We will call or email you to let
you know that you have received any registered mail, courier deliveries,
hand deliveries, oversized items or faxes so you don't have to keep calling
us or stopping in unnecessarily. This allows you to concentrate on your
business rather than worrying about your courier. You can also call us to
find out if there is anything in your mailbox saving you time in checking
on your mailbox in person.
Forwarding Services - We can forward your mail and parcels to
you for $3.00 (including GST) plus the cost of shipping, either on a regular
basis or whenever you desire. This is especially handy for snow-birds on
vacation or for those who have moved out of the city for a period of time,
whether you are working or living outside of the city. We can forward your
mail worldwide.
Fax Receiving Service - The cost
of operating a fax machine with its junk fax is eliminated with our fax
service. You only pay 75¢ per page for the faxes you receive and our
fax is available 24-hours a day to receive faxes. Our fax
number is +1 (780) 425 - 0329. You can also come in and send
faxes to anywhere around the world.
Single Parcel Receiving
Don't need a private mailbox but need to solve one of the following problems:
- You are getting a Christmas present in for your spouse and don't want
it to be seen by them.
- You've ordered an item off eBay but aren't going to be home when it
is delivered by the courier and it needs a signature.
- You are on business in Edmonton but need to securely receive a parcel
from home/office.
Have it sent to our address and we can receive it for you and hold it
for you to pickup at your convenience. You need to let us know that you
are having something sent to us BEFORE it arrives so we don't refuse the
item, and prepay for receiving at a cost of $5.00 per item, plus $5.00 per
week storage if not picked up within a week of delivery to us. We can handle
COD shipments if you prepay us the amount of the COD shipment. Please contact us for more information on single parcel
receiving for you.
Mailbox Rental FAQ
- Q: Who uses mailbox rentals with Telexperts-The Ship Centre?
- A: We have a wide ranging client base, and you might be one
too if:
- you are a student who needs a permanent address for two to four years
while you are going to school.
- you are working in the oil patch, you don't have a home to call home,
except you want a permanent place for your mail.
- you are a snowbird who spends an amount of time travelling. You want
your mail to be safe from theft and snoopy family members and want it forwarded
to where you are when wanted.
- you have gotten into a work exchange program working outside of Canada,
enabling you to enjoy the sun of Australia, California or other countries
while maintaining an Edmonton presence.
- you are running your home based business and you are not always home
to receive your essential courier deliveries. You know when they come in,
you will get a call to let you know they have arrived so instead you concentrate
your efforts on sales and customer service instead of worrying about packages
left to be stolen or ruined by the weather, or running all over the city
trying to get to the courier depot to pick up the package.
- you have roommates who may not respect your privacy, or that you don't
necessarily totally trust. Keep your mail private.
- you have special mail that comes in that needs to be treated differently
such as sending it off to someone else or holding it behind the counter
so the regular pickup person does not get this mail.
- your job takes you all over the country and you may not be home to
receive your mail.
- the registered office you have to have can't be listed at your home.
- you deal on the internet and don't want people knowing your home address.
- after the nasty divorce, your ex-spouse holds a grudge. Keeping them
away from you is important, but so is having a place where your mail can
be delivered.
- the mailbox for your apartment or house isn't the most secure and you
are tired of losing your mail.
- your business is located in another city but you want a presence in
Edmonton from which to conduct business.
- your business is hiring and you need a temporary mailbox for the applicants
to send their resume's to.
- you want morning mail delivery - our mail is in and sorted usually
before 10:30 a.m..
- you dislike getting junk mail placed in your mailbox.
- you have a desire to be able to receive your mail and parcels securely,
regularly and at your convenience.
-
- Q: Why would I rent a mailbox with Telexperts-The Ship Centre
when I can get a mailbox with Canada Post?
- A: We offer a street address rather than a PO Box number. Please
see the answer to the question in this FAQ about how to have your mail
addressed. Couriers are unable to deliver to PO Boxes as per Canada Post
rules and a number of people do not want to deal with someone with a PO
Box as they consider them hiding behind the PO Box number. We offer 24-hour
access to your mailbox whereas most Canada Post mailboxes are not available
24-hours every day. Our rates are comparable, if not better, than Canada
Post rates for mailbox rentals and we offer a wide range of comparable
and additional services for your convenience.
-
- Q: Why would I rent a mailbox with Telexperts-The Ship Centre
when I can get a mailbox with someone else offering mailbox rentals?
- A: You will rent a mailbox with a company that offers you the
best convenience of service and price for what you want to do. This page
offers different reasons highlighting how we offer convenience, numerous
products and services, fair prices and good customer service. Compare Telexperts-The
Ship Centre to the competition on access times, total costs (remember to
count setup costs, signature costs, GST and other costs in renting a mailbox)
and see if they offer all the services you need. While we hope you choose
us, pick the business that is right for you and your needs.
-
- Q: I had a mailbox with Telexperts-The Ship Centre that I cancelled,
but my circumstances have changed and I would like to be able to get it
back. Is this possible?
- A: We have welcomed a number of our clients back after they
had decided they still needed a mailbox with us after cancelling. In the
majority of cases, we were able to get them their old mailbox number back,
as we try to rent them out on a last out basis. This is not always possible,
but we try wherever we can. Please ask us whether your mailbox is still
available.
-
- Q: I had a mailbox somewhere and I wasn't able to get there
by the day it expired and they immediately returned my mail and cancelled
my mailbox. I was so mad. How long do you hold my mailbox open if it expires
and I haven't gotten there to renew it?
- A: This varies depending on how well we know you and other circumstances,
but we try to contact you in all the ways we can before we cancel your
mailbox. When we took over the business in 1999, we had a client who we
couldn't get hold of no matter what we did. He came in six months later
saying he had had a mailbox here, but had been in an accident and was bed-ridden
for a long time. We still had his mail for him and he simply renewed his
mailbox with us and he continues with us to this day. We value our
clients and want you to consider us your permanent home, so we
don't want to kick you out unless we know you no longer want to be with
us.
-
- Q: Is there any way of having Telexperts-The Ship Centre arrange
for my mail to be forwarded to my new mailbox there from my old address?
- A: This is subject to Canada Post rules as to what addresses
can be forwarded from and some mail is not allowed to be forwarded or may
have charges assessed for forwarding. Cost to forward mail for six (6)
months is $33.00 + GST ($35.31) for up to four (4) individual or family
names or $100.00 + GST ($107.00) for up to two (2) business names plus
up to two (2) individual or family names. We have Canada Post Change of
Address Notification forms that you can fill in that can be taken to Canada
Post to have them forward your mail from your old address to ours. We can
take the forms into Canada Post on your behalf and can also arrange for
the renewing of your change of address when it expires if you authorise
us to do so.
-
- Q: How do I list my mailing address at Telexperts-The Ship Centre?
- A: Your address is listed as Suite #, Unit #, Apartment #, Studio
# or just use the # to indicate your mailbox number. Please do NOT
use Box # or especially PO Box # as this may delay your mail from arriving
or cause it to be misdirected by Canada Post and it may not arrive at all.
Your address can have the mailbox number be in front of the address, behind
the address or even be on its own line as follows:

- Q: When can I pick up my mail?
- A: You can pick your mail up 24-hours a day through double locked
doors. If you give your key to someone, they can pick your mail up for
you. Remember to give us permission for them to be able to pick up packages
that don't fit in your mailbox, otherwise we will be unable to release
items that do not fit in your mailbox to anyone other than you.
-
- Q: How secure is my mail?
- A: Any mailbox can be broken into given enough time and effort.
Breaking into Telexperts-The Ship Centre will require more time and effort
to get in. We have double doors, meaning there is a main entrance door
and a door for your mailbox. Our building is secure and we are continually
adding and improving our security features. Canada Post and all the couriers
deliver the mail/parcels directly to us, meaning that it doesn't sit in
a delivery box waiting for someone to break into it, as we are open any
time that regular mail delivery and the couriers are operating. An additional
item of security is that Canada Post considers us as a "single point
of presence" which means that the mail comes bundled for our address
and Telexperts-The Ship Centre then sorts this mail into everyone's mailbox.
What can NOT be done is to have someone complete a Canada
Post change of address form and have your mail redirected away from Telexperts-The
Ship Centre without you knowing, as could happen with mail addressed to
your home address.
-
- Q: What happens if my mail does not arrive at my mailbox?
- A: Since it is up to the post office or the courier delivering
it, we cannot guarantee delivery of anything sent to you at your mailbox
at Telexperts-The Ship Centre. Whenever we receive something for you, we
will place it in your mailbox, or place a card in your mailbox telling
you that you have an oversized package available. We do call/email you
if your package is oversized, registered mail, courier or hand delivered.
If you know you are expecting a particular item, we can call you when it
arrives.
- If your parcel or letter does not arrive, you should contact the person
or company that sent it to you to confirm that it was sent, to find out
any tracking number
-
- Q: Do you open my mail?
- A: We never open your mail or letters unless you specifically
authorise and request us to do so. We place your mail as received into
your mailbox and you will pick it up at your convenience or we will forward
it to you when you request us to do so. Be aware that some mail is not
sealed properly by the sender and may be received opened. Packages coming
in from outside of Canada are subject to opening and inspection (and duty)
by Canada Customs.
-
- Q: How often will you forward my mail to me?
- A: Daily, weekly, monthly or whatever timeframe you want us
to send it to you. You determine if we send it out on the 1st and 15th
of the month or we wait until you specifically tell us to send it. You
can send us an email, call us on the phone, fax
us or send us a letter in the mail and let us know what you would like
done with it. We have sent an email listing of mail available (who from
based on marks on the mail) and what type of mail (addressed admail, flyer,
lettermail, large envelope, etc.) and then the client replies back that
they only want certain items forwarded on to them. The rest of the email
we have held onto in a box waiting for the client to return to pick up
the mail and do with it what they want to.
-
- Q: Can you explain how your charges work for forwarding my mail?
- A: We do not charge for receiving your mail, nor do we charge
for signatures on registered mail or courier deliveries. Every mail forwarding
that we do is charged $3.00 (GST included) plus whatever the shipping charges
are, including freight charges/postage plus materials required to package
the mail, such as envelopes, boxes, packing, etc. You can choose to have
your mail forwarded to you via Canada Post or FedEx or any other method
you desire. Please note that items forwarded outside of Canada are subject
to Customs inspection and duty of that country and may require paperwork
to be completed before entry to that country may occur. If you are expecting
items, especially non-document items, being sent to another country, please
talk to us beforehand to ensure there is no delay on your receiving your
items.
-
- Q: Do you have safety deposit boxes available?
- A: No, our mailboxes are open at the back to allow us to put
mail into them, they are not safety boxes. For this service, please see
a bank or Credit Union.
-
- Q: What mailbox sizes are available?
- A: We have three different mailbox sizes, depending on the amount
and size of the items you are receiving. Each mailbox is five (5) inches
high by four (4), six (6) or twelve (12) inches wide. Items that do not
fit in your mailbox will be securely held for you to pick up during our
regular business hours. We'll call or email you to tell you that you have
an oversize package and leave a card in your mailbox as a reminder when
you come in to pick up your mail. Bring the card in to get your package.
-
- Q: What is the numbering available for mailboxes?
- A: Our mailboxes are numbered from 1 to 30, starting at 101
through 130, 201 through 230 and continuing through 1501 to 1530. We try
to get you a mailbox number that suites you (some wanted their birthday
as in 130 being January 30th as above) while others wanted a mailbox positioned
at the right height for easy access to get their mail. We will try to accommodate
you but mailbox numbers are issued on a first come, first serve basis.
-
- Q: I want to rent a small mailbox now, but what are my options
for moving to a larger mailbox?
- A: We have three (3) different sized mailboxes and there are
options that we can do to move you to a larger mailbox, although there
may be some extra costs besides the difference in mailbox rates.
- You could move your mail to a new mailbox number, but this would require
that you change all your incoming mail to reflect the new mailbox number.
This would be the equivalent of moving and while we could easily handle
the possibility of your missing some address changes, it can be done over
time as all your mail still comes into the same address.
- We have a single large mailbox at the bottom of each stack of mailboxes
that can be made available, with your mail being placed in the large mailbox
instead of in your regular mailbox. We would simply move your mail into
the appropriate mailbox for you to collect your mail from.
- Please talk to us if you have this problem and we should be able to
come to a reasonable solution that works for both of us.
- Q: I have a large mailbox now, but what are my options for moving
to a smaller mailbox?
- A: We have three (3) different sized mailboxes and there are
options that we can do to move you to a smaller mailbox, although there
may be some extra costs besides the difference in mailbox rates.
- We are not able to sub-divide a larger mailbox into a smaller mailbox,
so the only option is to move your mailbox number to a different, smaller
mailbox. This would require that you change all your incoming mail to reflect
the new mailbox number. This would be the equivalent of moving and while
we could easily handle the possibility of your missing some address changes,
it can be done over time as all your mail still comes into the same address.
- Please talk to us if you have this problem and we should be able to
come to a reasonable solution that works for both of us.
